Over the past 15 years, Jools Holland has made himself BBC2's genial, slightly goofy harbinger of the New Year, his annual Hootenanny as much a part of the celebrations as party poppers and one drink too many. Tonight he brings us some of the past year's best acts, as well as a line-up of veteran performers that would make any get-together go with a swing. From the musical present there's the irresistibly catchy Ting Tings, as well as Dizzee Rascal and Sam Sparro. On the eve of Motown's 50th anniversary, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas join Jools to play Dancing in the Street and (Love Is like a) Heatwave, which will stir a few memories. If that weren't enough, past and present join hands as Lily Allen sings an Ella Fitzgerald number and Adele covers Etta James. Plus there's Annie Lennox, Dave Edmunds and, as ever, the Pipes and Drums of the 1st Battalion of the Scots Guards to beat us to midnight in rousing fashion.


Note - The Programme is split into 3 parts due to encoding problems that DID result in a loss of sync and could only resolved by keeping them seperate - as seperates sync it is perfect - good (No loss of programme at all) - what ever word to say it is OK - i have spent the past 3 hours trying to "Glue" it together.. and frankly its wasting time you can be watching it :surrender: - Happy New Year everyone!! :-D
